Tech is Inherently Political
October 10, 2025

The Framework laptop company sponsors white supremecists. Which is a shame, I really like their products. I got one of their laptops years ago as soon as they became available, and it's been good to me all this time. I was thinking of upgrading it or even buying the Framework 16 at some point, but I certainly won't be doing that any time soon. "Why do we have to get political?" is the question everyone asks when a shithead gets their beliefs exposed. The truth of the matter is that you really can't ignore politics, least of all in the tech world.

In this day and age when Silicon Valley's richest CEOs sit right behind Trump at his inauguration, kissing his ass to gain favors, and bending their products' functionalities to his will, you really can't afford to ignore politics in tech. In any day and age, you can find tech to be at the center of whatever oppression is popular at the time. From modern day social medias changing the TOS to allow transphobia and ban calling anyone out for it, to World War 2 when IBM was directly contributing to the Holocaust. Data is power, and whoever controls it has a LOT of influence over the world. And we can see today and back then what happens when it's in control of Nazis. There is no possible way to ignore politics in tech.
